What Is the Difference Between AGM and Flooded Lead Acid Batteries?

Can you give me a quick “how to” for the AGM batteries? How are they different from flooded? (ie. can I run them below 50%) Just want to know how to use them optimally. Thanks! - Casey

Answer:

With batteries, it is always a trade-off between depth of discharge (aka how low you drain the battery) and # of cycles (i.e. how many times you can do it).  With AGM you can bring them down to 30% depth of discharge and still get 300 cycles.  Or stop discharging at 50% and get 450 cycles. - Jeff
