Connecting a DC to DC Charging Converter

Question:

I will be installang an isolator dc-dc charger (Victron Orion-Tr Smart) to charge my bow thruster battery from the house battery (7 m apart). Do I need to connect the cables directly to the battery terminals or can I connect them somewhere else? For example: positive input cable to unswiched power distribution bus bar or the negative cables to common negative bus bar?  Best regards, Karol

Answer:

Yep, you can definitely connect the DC to DC charging converter to the positive unswitched (always on) distribution and negative distribution. Make sure you have positive fuses at both ends of the circuit. - Jeff
