How Do I Know if My Vesper XB-8000 AIS WiFi Has Been Disabled or Has Stopped Working?

Question:

I have a Vesper XB-8000 AIS system in my boat, an Eagle 26.  It doesn't seem to be broadcasting a wifi signal anymore, and on my marine traffic app it currently shows that it hasn't sent any info for over 20 days. I'm currently running the boat 7 days a week.  I've watched the system intently and can see my splitter showing that it is sending a signal every 3 minutes while I'm docked.

I have tried entering all of the network  information manually into my phone but it still won't show up.  Looking for some advice for troubleshooting this.  - Rob

Answer:

It sounds like the Vespers inbuilt WiFi may have been disabled. The way to check this is to connect to the Vesper via USB – there is a check mark in the settings under WiFi tab that allows your to enable or disable WiFi.

In the settings you will also be able to view the status tab which may tell you more about why the signal isn’t being transmitted.
