Can I Join All the Negatives of My Solar to a Common Ground?

Question:

Hey Jeff, I love following your YouTube channel. A question for you, would you route the negative of a solar panel output to the common ground, then from there to the negative input on a Victron 75/15 solar controller? I planning to use several controllers and it would be easier to run a single common ground (high gauge) to the controllers. - Cristiano

Answer:

Thanks for the feedback and glad our videos are resonating with you.

Not sure of the implications of your suggestion, albeit never seen this done in the field. I would suggest you connect the solar wire pair (positive and negative) directly to the solar controller. Once you come out of the controller, you can join the negatives to reduce the cabling going back to the battery.
