AC Breaker for New Battery Charger

Question:

Hi Jeff, I have a question, I recently upgraded my battery charger on my cruiser to a Victron 12-80 and I am popping my breaker, witch is a 10 amp, is it possible that my breaker is to small?  - Bryan

Hi Bryan, your hunch is correct, a 10 amp AC beaker is too small and you'll need either a 15 or even 20 amp breaker. If you go to 20 amp breaker, make sure your AC wiring is 12/3 wiring and not 14/3 wiring which is too small for a 20 amp breaker.  - Jeff
