Protection on AC Shoreside Cable Connection
Question:
Hi Jeff. Hope you doing well. What is the reason ABYC calls for a circuit breaker if the conductors are over 10' from the shore power inlet to the main AC panel? I can't find the "why" anywhere. Thanks! - Brad
Answer:
Hi Brad, it’s all about circuit protection. Ideally, you’d want an even shorter amount of unprotected AC cabling inside the boat. The longer and unprotected the cable run the more likelihood of a fire in the event of a short. - Jeff
